The biggest fight of his life isn’t . . . In the Ring.

The bright lights. The roaring crowd. The chance at a championship belt. The not-so-little secret Liam Shaughnessy—the Bonny Bruiser—is fighting to keep tucked far away.

Liam got the pussy pounded out of him on the mean streets of Cin-city—the other Sin City. The oldest in a Catholic clan where his da never pulled any punches, he went from geek boy to the golden boy of the boxing world care of his fists. Liam’s on the fast track to having it all . . . all except the one man he wants.

Michael Fairweather makes pretending to be hetero goddamn difficult for Liam. The man is blond and beautiful and just so happens to be Liam’s trainer. With a penchant for doing shirtless yoga, giving midnight massages to loosen Liam’s muscles, and sometimes even taking it out in the ring with him. To say Liam has porn-style fantasies about Michael is an understatement.

Michael’s out and proud. Liam’s only proud of what he can do in the ring. He can’t risk his career, least of all for someone unavailable. Michael has a lover. Liam has the lies he lives every day. And when his money-grubbing manager gets involved as the title win approaches, Liam doesn’t know what hit him.

Fight to win. Fight with honor. It won’t be easy, but that’s okay. Nothing worth fighting for ever is.

In the Ring BOXER Book 1 edition by Rie Warren Literature Fiction eBooks

I have been a fan of Rie Warren's books since I first read anything by her. She writes with so much grit, heart, passion, and downright hawtness that each book is a roller coaster. In The Ring didn't disappoint me at all.
Liam and Michael's story is one of a battle for acceptance, for love and honor. Liam struggle with his attraction to Michael, and his efforts to hide who he truly is brought me to tears. I actually cheered out loud when Liam's family professed their acceptance. And the instant Liam owned his truth, I may have cried some tears of relief.
Once I reached the end of the story, I felt as if I was missing some good friends. The writing is tight, emotional and evocative. The supporting characters bring so much to the story (going on record her that I didn't like Devlin or Wade at all). I'd call this book a major triumph for love.

In the Ring BOXER Book 1 edition by Rie Warren Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

3.5 stars...the story flows nicely and is very well written. The characters are believable and display honest emotions, portraying the personal and social struggles I'm sure are very real for some in today's society, you couldn't help but be heartbroken for Michael and Liam. I was happy to see them get their HEA.
I really enjoyed this story to a point. I loved the boxing references, but I felt Sean the actual trainer wasn't involved enough for it to be truly realistic. I really enjoyed the sex between the two MC's once they finally got it on, my biggest issue with the story is what Mikey did before his title fight (what the???)
And the Liam's acceptance of it and actually taking part of the blame, just no! Otherwise I really enjoyed it.
I've read most of all Rie Warren's books and loved each. I was definitely taken out of my comfort zone while reading her one series which is how I got to reading this book. Though I don't usually read M/M books but like I said reading her other series I was okay with this book.
The book started on a slower pace but as I got going I couldn't put the book down and had to finish.
It's definitely not a book everyone would like but I gotta say though it's a M/M book, I was into the romance story (along with their struggles) more than which sex the characters were.
I am a huge fan of Rie Warren's writing. She always seems to hit all the feels in her books. In the Ring was no different. I am beyond happy that this one is set in the m/m genre.

Liam Shaughnessy is on the top of his game. He has fought his way from nothing to one of the hottest up and coming boxers. There is only one problem each and every day he hides who he really is. He is in the closet...deep in the closet. He's afraid coming out will cost him everything he's ever fought for. Liam has lusted over his trainer for years. Liam knows Michael is something completely off limits to him, until he can't fight the attraction any longer.

The build up between Liam and Michael was slow and intense. I definitely think it's part of the reason I loved this read so much. Liam and Michael are explosive and sexy together. In the Ring is a fantastic coming out read!

"Fight to win. Fight with honor. Fight for love."

I reviewed my personal copy of this book for Wicked Reads.
There comes a time as a reader where you get to read a book that no matter what words you use will not do a it justice. I can think of so many adjectives that I could use to describe In The Ring but in the end it would not do this book the justice that it so deserves, This is a book that you need to read, if you are a fan of the MM genre, then I must implore you to grab this book and be prepared to do nothing until you are finished!
The characters are so strong, the story will capture you and the feelings between Liam and Michael just jump off the pages.
I have read many of Ms. Warren's books but I have to say that In The Ring is one of my top favs as well as a top fav for 2016!!!
My Review

In an effort of full disclosure...I love Rie Warren's writing and was offered this book for review, but I turned it down, because I am not a big fan of boxing-themed romances. But then I saw that the author had it priced for $.99 and I grabbed it just because I really do like her male/male romances. I figured for a dollar, I wasn't out much if it didn't capture my attention. In fact, I was so sure I wasn't going to enjoy it, I started it one night...late...planning to only read a chapter or two just to get a feel for whether I'd like it or not. A few hours later, I'd read the whole book. *sigh* Yep, this is one of those books. I don't care that it was about a boxer...omg, the story was excellent!!

This book is told entirely from Liam's point of view. Liam has had to hide his true self his entire life. A gay boxer just isn't something that he can be, but having the hands of his trainer, Michael, on him after so many years and wanting and abstinence is wearing on him. Between that and the growing pressure that's building up to the Heavyweight Championship, something has to give. But he can't be gay...AND Michael has a serious boyfriend. My heart hurt for Liam.

Okay, flat-out...this book is TOTALLY worth losing sleep over. I loved it so very much. It was a great story with a fantastic slow-burn happening between the two MC's. Liam is stuck. He's a fighter. He's worked his way up the hard way and is doing everything he can to do better for himself and his family. From his point of view, he has no choices here...not if he wants to keep his career. The alternative is to go back and live in the slums of Cincinnati. He won't do that.

Also...I'm not a boxing fan, but even those parts worked for me. I loved watching Liam train and Michael helping him to get into top form. Boxing is a brutal career and the author did a great job of showing that aspect, too, without hitting those buttons in my psyche that turn me off to this trope in romance.

So...yes, I HIGHLY recommend this book. It's easily been one of my favorite reads for m/m this year...and surprisingly enough, I'm looking for more in this series. More boxers? Bring it! I can't wait.
